Korean Grammar in Use: Beginning to Early Intermediate
Ahn Jean-Myung, Lee Kyung-ah, "Korean Grammar in Use: Beginning to Early Intermediate"
Publisher: Darakwon | 2010 | ISBN: 8959951986 | English/Korean | PDF | 345 pages | 51.76 Mb

This book is the culmination of educational know-how and systematic grammar organization acquired by the three authors from their experience actually teaching Korean to foreigners in the classroom. In focusing strictly on Korean grammar, this series represents a departure from most current integrated teaching materials, allowing foreign learners to more easily concentrate on grammar in their study of Korean. The authors have included real dialogues and illustrations to make the study of Korean more interesting, especially for those students who have heretofore felt Koran grammar to be difficult. Further, this series equally serves as a general Korean grammar reference that can be used by Korean language instructors both in Korea and abroad who regularly experience the difficulty of teaching Korean grammar first-hand.”

English | ISBN: 0819569399, 0819569402 | edition 2010 | PDF | 264 pages | 2.24 MB

For the past decade, the Korean film industry has enjoyed a renaissance. With innovative storytelling and visceral effects, Korean films not only have been commercially viable in the domestic and regional markets but also have appealed to cinephiles everywhere on the international festival circuit. This book provides both an industrial and an aesthetic account of how the Korean film industry managed to turn an economic crisis--triggered in part by globalizing processes in the world film industry--into a fiscal and cultural boom. Jinhee Choi examines the ways in which Korean film production companies, backed by affluent corporations and venture capitalists, concocted a variety of winning production trends. Through close analyses of key films, Choi demonstrates how contemporary Korean cinema portrays issues immediate to its own Korean audiences while incorporating the transnational aesthetics of Hollywood and other national cinemas such as Hong Kong and Japan. Appendices include data on box office rankings, numbers of films produced and released, market shares, and film festival showings.

This textbook began its life as a personal collection of language activities which complemented the textbook Learning Korean: New Directions 1, (Pilot Edition 1) used in some Australian universities including Monash University where we started teaching Korean in 1992. In 1995, this meagre collection grew into a textbook of its own entitled Let’s Speak Korean. The following year the book went through a major change when Douglas Ling, a former student of ours and a lecturer in Film Studies at RMIT University (as a matter of fact, he is happily retired now), started helping us to rephrase the grammar explanations to be more suitable for Australian learners.
