Kinetics & Thermodynamics of Fast Particles in Solids

** Kinetics and Thermodynamics of Fast Particles in Solids**

English | ISBN: 1466580097 | 2013 | 296 pages | PDF | 6 Mb

Kinetics and Thermodynamics of Fast Particles in Solids examines the kinetics and non-equilibrium statistical thermodynamics of fast charged particles moving in crystals in different modes. It follows a line of research very different from traditional ways of constructing a theory of radiation effects, which gives a purely mechanistic interpretation of particle motion. In contrast, this book takes into account the thermodynamic forces due to separation of the thermodynamic parameters of the subsystem of particles ("hot" atoms) on the parameters of the thermostat (electrons and lattice), in addition to covering the various mechanisms of collisions.

Thermodynamics, Gibbs Method and Statistical Physics of Electron Gases

7 August 2010

**Thermodynamics, Gibbs Method and Statistical Physics of Electron Gases**

Publisher: Springer | 2010 | PDF | 374 pages | ISBN: 3642031706 | 5.2Mb

This book deals with theoretical thermodynamics and the statistical physics of electron and particle gases. While treating the laws of thermodynamics from both classical and quantum theoretical viewpoints, it posits that the basis of the statistical theory of macroscopic properties of a system is the microcanonical distribution of isolated systems, from which all canonical distributions stem. To calculate the free energy, the Gibbs method is applied to ideal and non-ideal gases, and also to a crystalline solid. Considerable attention is paid to the Fermi-Dirac and Bose-Einstein quantum statistics and its application to different quantum gases, and electron gas in both metals and semiconductors is considered in a nonequilibrium state. A separate chapter treats the statistical theory of thermodynamic properties of an electron gas in a quantizing magnetic field.

Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics

17 March 2011

**Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics**

Thermodynamics is a perfect example of a science which is developed from axioms. In contrast to classical mechanics, thermodynamics has withstood the quantum revolution without having its foundations shaken. In the course of the century of its existence it sprouted only several vigorous offshoots: Nernst's Third Law, Section 12, the theory of dilute solutions, Section 15, the application of the Second Law to electricity and magnetism, Sections 18 and .19. We consider that the thermodynamics of irreversible processes, Section 21, constitutes a promising extension of the classical thermodynamics of equilibria; it is based on Onsager's reciprocal relations and attempts to describe real processes which occur at finite velocities. Even Kirchhoff, as related by Planck in his autobiographical paper (Naturwissen- schaften 19), restricted the concept of entropy to reversible processes; the firm belief in the general validity of this concept, which Planck stated as early as his doctoral thesis, led him in 1900 to his law of radiation and to quantum theory. ...

Electrode Kinetics for Chemists, Chemical Engineers and Materials Scientists

8 November 2010

**Electrode Kinetics for Chemists, Chemical Engineers and Materials Scientists**

616 pages | Dec 12, 2007 |ISBN:0471188581 | PDF | 8 Mb

Offering a thorough explanation of electrode kinetics, this textbook emphasizes physical phenomena-rather than mathematical formalism-and elucidates the underlying principles of the different experimental techniques. Assuming an elementary knowledge of thermodynamics and chemical kinetics and minimal mathematical skills, coverage explores the arguments of two primary schools of thought: electrode kinetics and interfacial electrochemistry viewed as a branch of physical chemistry, and from the perspective of analytical chemistry.

**Concepts of Modern Catalysis and Kinetics**

235 pages | Aug 31 2010 |ISBN:3527305742 | PDF | 5.5 Mb

Until now, the literature has offered a rather limited approach to the use of fundamental kinetics and their application to catalytic reactions. Subsequently, this book spans the full range from fundamentals of kinetics and heterogeneous catalysis via modern experimental and theoretical results of model studies to their equivalent large-scale industrial production processes. The result is key knowledge for students at technical universities and professionals already working in industry. '... such an enterprise will be of great value to the community, to professionals as well as graduate and undergraduate students attempting to move into the field of modern catalysis and kinetics. I strongly recommend you publish this book based on the proposal.
